Meet Paulina Chávez, Fate: The Winx Saga’s Flora

Mexican-American actress and musician Paulina Chávez as set to star as series regular ‘Flora’ in the new season of Netflix’s Fate: The Winx Saga, which just premiered and is currently the #1 Show on Netflix’s Top 10. Chávez is known for starring as the titular lead role of Ashley Garcia in the Netflix’s original series The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia and Ashley Garcia: Genius in Love.

A live-action, Riverdale-esque take on the beloved Italian animated show Winx Club, the Netflix series follows a group of Fairies who attend a magical boarding school called Alfea in the Otherworld, where they must learn to master their magical powers while navigating love, rivalries, and the monsters that threaten their very existence.

One noticeable character missing from the Netflix take of the show was Flora (Chávez), a vital member from the original series and Season 2 of the series brings her triumphant debut. Flora is sweet, friendly, and shy. She’s often very passive and non-confrontational, which shows in her use of magic and sometimes comes at the expense of her self-esteem. Above all, Flora is an extremely nurturing person and cares deeply for the Earth and nature, but also for people, particularly her friends. She struggles to believe in herself and her abilities but has no issue in believing the best about the other members of the Winx Club.

Born in El Paso, TX, at the age of six Paulina and her family moved to San Antonio, TX where she discovered her love of acting through her school’s theater program. She joined drama club in second grade and immersed herself in theatre, playing lead roles in Aladdin Jr., Beauty and the Beast Jr.The Little Mermaid Jr. among others. She began auditioning and booking roles for various short films, movies, voice-overs, regional commercials, as well as national TV commercials for Coca-Cola and ‘Food Feuds: Latin Food’ alongside award-winning chef Aarón Sánchez. In addition to acting, Paulina’s other passion is music, and she began taking vocal lessons at a young age in preparation for musicals. She counts a wide range of musical influences including Shakira, Alejandro Fernandez, Luis Miguel, and Billie Eilish and her own music can best be described as “alternative meets Latin pop.” Paulina also plays the violin in a San Antonio-based mariachi group which she praises for helping connect her to her Latin roots.

When she is not acting or singing, animal lover Paulina enjoys spending time with her border collie Luna. She is also an advocate for the Latinx community and focuses her attention on giving back. She also recently announced a special scholarship that affords opportunities for youth within her local San Antonio community to go to college. She selected students from Southwest High School and Legacy High School for these scholarships and announced them on her IG LIVE.

Season 2 of the fan-favorite series is currently streaming.
