Pre-Game: No Rome essentials to get you hyped

No Rome's coming back. Yes, we're hyped.

At this point, to say that artist No Rome — one of the Manila music scene’s former best-kept secrets — has exploded on the global scene is a gross understatement.

Not only did the Philippine-born musician get signed to Jamie Oborne’s UK-based label Dirty Hit Records’ stable of artists back in 2017, No Rome also became the first Filipino to perform at the iconic Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival after his labelmates English rock band The 1975 brought him on stage during their set this year to perform his hit song Narcissist off his EP RIP Indo Hisashi, which was co-produced by The 1975’s Matty Healy and George Daniel.

No Rome — Rome Gomez in real life —was also included in the iconic British music publication New Musical Express’ list of 100 “essential” new artists for 2019, with the website describing his music as “an ultra-modern type of pop drawing from house, R&B and hip hop alongside some unexpected influences.”

Best known perhaps for his shoegaze and bedroom electro pop sound, No Rome — currently The 1975’s opening act for their ongoing global Music For Cars Tour — dropped quite the bomb when he announced a series of homecoming shows scheduled to begin later this year .

No Rome made the announcement on his Twitter account, the tweet accompanied by a copy of his show’s promo poster.

“Playing the hometown on October 6 and im really f**king excited. ano tara!” No Rome tweeted.

No Rome’s solo shows will start this October 6 at the Market! Market! Activity Center.

In celebration of No Rome’s upcoming homecoming shows, we have compiled a selection of some of his hits — as well as some select deep cuts — just to get you pumped and ready for what we’re sure is going to become quite the party.
