Welcome To Paradise: Green Day announces Manila show

It's official: Filipino punk fans are going to have the time of their lives.

It’s official: the gods of rock and roll are smiling down upon us.

Just a day after the announcement of their joint European and North American tour with Fall Out Boy and Weezer, American rock band Green Day has revealed — via a hilarious deepfake video on its YouTube page, no less — that they will be visiting Manila early next year.

Produced in support of their upcoming thirteenth studio album “Father of All Motherfuckers,” the said show will be held on March 14, 2020 at the Mall of Asia Arena. This show will mark the band’s first visit to the Philippines.

Green Day, composed of vocalist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool, first rose to fame in the 90s and is credited as among the bands who brought punk rock to the mainstream. Their two albums, the 1994 breakout hit Dookie and the 2004 punk rock opera American Idiot, are part of Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Best known for their hit singles Basket Case, Good Riddance (Time of Your Life), Wake Me Up When September Ends, and Revolution Radio, among others, Green Day was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015, their first year of eligibility.

Ticket prices have not been posted as of press time.
