Lush’s technology led retail destination opened inShinjuku, Tokyo. The 4-floor shop, located next to the busiest station in the world, will be a global destination. Shinjuku is a representative of the way Lush approaches technology, just as they do their products: it reveals an experiential, imaginative retail space driven by innovation.
With the opening of Lush Shinjuku, the revised version of the Lush Labs app will launch in English, Korean, Japanese and Simplified Chinese on iOS and Android. The app contains a Lens feature, driven by open-source Machine Learning technology and designed by Lush’s very own tech R&D team: Tech Warriors, to help customers in shopping packaging-free with ease. Visitors can use the scan function by aiming at the product they’re interested in to browse product information whilst in store, at home and even via the storefront window. Here, a digital ‘shoppable window’ will be active 24 hours a day for customers and passers by to scan and shop curated collections and product drops day or night.
The ambience of Lush Shinjuku aims to change your mood to the way you would like to feel. Each floor offers an uplifting, interactive and playful space that promotes exploration and creativity with benefits beyond the body through different materials, lighting, products, content and merchandising to set the tone and spark joy.The second floor offers a surreal sensory experience that draws inspiration from synesthesia; using color therapy and generative art inspired by bath art to create an immersive digital mood.
