It started out as a cryptic post on Instagram. All four members of the Eraserheads: Ely, Raymund, Buddy and Marcus posted their iconic inverted E logo on Instagram last September 17. Fans of course, flooded the members’ comments section but no one was spilling. It could have just been one of those random posts but nothing is ever so with these guys.
Today, September 19, all four members dropped the bomb oh so casually on their respective social media accounts yet again. The comeback that we didn’t know we have been waiting for – – Eraserheads Ang Huling El Bimbo happens on December 22 at the SMDC Festival Grounds in Parañaque.
For the benefit of our Gen Z readers who may not know who they are, the Eraserheads is a Filipino rock band back in the 90s. They were it. Other Pinoy bands and singers looked up to them. The Eheads are considered to be one the very few influential bands in OPM. They are behind the following hits: With a Smile, Ang Huling El Bimbo, Magasin, Pare Ko and Ligaya to name a few. Their discography spoke to people of different walks of life and spanned topics from life in school to love to social commentary.
The band played together for over a decade until they disbanded in 2002. A reunion concert dubbed Eraserheads: The Reunion was held in August 2008 – this was cut short as Ely suffered chest pains and had to be rushed to the hospital. Their last reunion, The Final Set, was back in March 2009.
Late last year, a fan asked Ely when an Eheads reunion would be happening again, to which Ely replied “Pag tumakbo si Leni”. Love it when musicians follow through on their promises. (Now how about those politicians who said they won’t be corrupt?)
Ticket prices and selling dates for Ang Huling El Bimbo concert in December have yet to be announced. Check the following accounts for more updates on the concert:
