Where to Stay in Boracay: 15 Reasons to Stay at Hue Hotels and Resorts

Hue Boracay is back and ready to make you fall in love with Boracay all over again.

MANILA, Philippines — Boracay, famous for its four-kilometer white sand beach, unreal sunsets, and vibrant island life, is open. Since October 2020, the island, once thought to be worn out by overtourism, has been ramping up efforts to bring local travelers back. Among these initiatives include the Department of Tourism-backed RT-PCR test subsidy promo for domestic tourists, and affordable rates from accredited hotels. The uptick has been steady, with 5% of last year’s tourists returning in February, and an estimated 10% in March. This trend has encouraged many businesses to reopen and take a chance.

Hue Hotels and Resorts Boracay is among the many businesses on the island that maintain a positive outlook. “Hue Boracay is back and ready to make you fall in love with Boracay all over again. Our brief separation has only made us eager to welcome guests back and showcase what Boracay island living has to offer,” says Hue Hotels and Resorts group general manager Chris Guballa.

The 127-room resort is located in Station 2, with a standout circular architecture and a bean-shaped pool. Its overall design concept is reminiscent of modern city hotels in vibrant, cosmopolitan business districts, seamlessly blending a well-curated dining and entertainment hub, Station X, with the relaxed and easy resort life.

Here are 15 reasons to book your stay here on your next Boracay trip:

1. Hue can work remotely at Station X.

Station X is a dining and entertainment hub located within Hue Hotel’s premises. It also serves as a pleasant WFH space for hotel guests, with comfortable seating, lots of natural light and ample amount of shade, and access to coffee shops, restaurants, and comfort rooms. (Big plus: No mosquitos!)

2. Hue can enjoy some vegan coconut ice cream from Cocomama.

The Cocomama (@cocomamaboracay) stall is now open again in Station X. You can enjoy their vegan-friendly coconut ice cream from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

3. Hue no longer have to walk far to eat at Sunny Side Café.

Boracay’s favorite Sunny Side Café is now open again! While their Station 3 beachfront location is still currently closed, you can enjoy your favorite ube pancakes and the rest of their all-day breakfast fare at its new pop-up location at Station X.

4. Hue can chill by the pool all-day.

Fact: Hue Hotel’s pool ambience is top-notch. The hotel’s unique, circular design means the pool gets lots of sunlight for those who want to get their tan on. There’s so much open space, you’ll forget you’re even inside a hotel. Plus, their daybeds are extra comfy and perfect for poolside naps.

Relax on any of Hue’s poolside daybeds. Napping is highly recommended.

5. Hue can have drinks while swimming at Prisma.

While you’re in the pool, order a cocktail while enjoying the water at Prisma’s pool bar.

6. Hue can get your caffeine fix at Little Wave.

Need to go on a coffee run? You won’t have to go far because Little Wave Café is just located in Station X. Grab a Millionaire Bar to go with your coffee for the full experience.

Waffles anyone? Take a snack break at Little Wave.

7. Hue can eat the best arroz caldo in Boracay.

There aren’t a lot of places that serve arroz caldo in Boracay. If you’re a guest, you can catch the sensational arroz caldo at Hue’s breakfast buffet. It’s one of the island’s best-kept secrets.

Don’t tell anyone: LA-UD’s arroz caldo is Boracay’s best-kept secret.

8. Hue can play (giant) chess a la Beth Harmon.

Station X’s giant chess board is a real attraction, and even more so post-Queen’s Gambit. Enjoy a game of chess (or an Insta-pictorial) with your friends.

9. Hue can enjoy a healthy meal at Nonie’s.

Nonie’s is another island favorite, also located in Station X. The restaurant, owned by Shria and Patrick Florencio, serves Filipino dishes with a healthy twist. Bonus: You can also order from their new dining concept, Little Taj, which offers a selection of traditional and modern Indian dishes and Indian-inspired street food.

10. Hue can enjoy your breakfast buffet at LA-UD.

Hue is one of the few restaurants that offer the breakfast buffet experience in Boracay. Of course, observing health and safety protocols, you’ll have to tell the server what you want and they’ll bring it to your table. If you miss the range of options that buffets offer (not to mention the ritualistic practice of selecting small meals and enjoying them at a leisurely pace), it’s a nice change.

11. Hue can finally get a good night’s sleep on Hue’s custom bed.

Bet you didn’t know that of Hue’s slightly firm, top quality high-density quilted foam mattresses were customized for the hotel. They employ a pocketed spring system that gently cushions while supporting the body evenly as you toss and turn on the bed. In the suite rooms, these are topped with a special memory foam mattress to further improve the sleeping experience.

12. Hue can work out at the gym or join weekend Zumba.

Hue has a gym that has basic equipment for guests who want to stay on top of their fitness routines while on the island. Station X also organizers weekend activities, such as zumba classes, open to both hotel guests and walk-ins.

To make the travel process easier on tourists, Hue is offering a package that includes a pre-departure RT-PCR tests at the resort’s accredited clinics in Makati and Pasay, three-day deluxe room accommodation for two persons, and daily set breakfast. If you avail of this package, you also get 15% off at the resort’s LA-UD restaurant, 10% off at Nonie’s, and 10% off at Prisma.

14. Hue can work from paradise for a month for just P55,000.

We know you’ve thought about it — now that we’re all working from home, why not work from home, away from home? Working from the beach is a dream for many, and Hue is making this dream accessible and affordable with their Alternative Abode packages. Stay at a deluxe room for 7 days for P15,000, or a suite for P25,000. For guests who want to stay for a minimum of one month, you can get a deluxe room for P55,000 and a suite for P85,000.

It’s just a few minutes walk to this glorious sunset.

15. Hue can experience top-notch service.

Hue operates with the same level of service and professionalism as it did when it first opened in 2017. The hotel is managed by Hospitality Innovators, Inc., (HII), which has partnered with Lysol to strengthen internal Safe Haven protocols. “Working with a trusted brand was key to ensuring we provide our guests with the safest place to stay, but also follow it through with extensive health and safety training, use of hospital-grade sanitation equipment, and products like Lysol,” says HII founder and CEO Luis Monserrat.

All About the Community

Hue Hotels and Resorts owners Dennis Lee and Dexter Lee share a glimpse of what it was like as a business owner during the lockdown: “This pandemic has given us the opportunity to reflect on why we develop properties; that is to empower communities by providing them opportunities, and enable them to gather and grow. With this at our core, it was very difficult to see the property, once teeming with laughter and activities suddenly came to a halt; to see the hotel and some of our valued tenants who enhanced these incredible social space suddenly had to turn off the lights and close the doors (again!) We were actually very moved and inspired by the local community in Boracay who have supported each other in their new ventures or trying to keep their existing businesses afloat, and this is why we thought of giving them the opportunity to showcase their ‘quarantine baby’ in Station X.”

Belonging to this local community is Shria Florencio of Nonie’s, one of the few Station X tenants that have been operating since the hotel reopened. She shares, “What we really need is for people to come back to Boracay and rediscover the beauty of the island. It’s scary for a small business to open right now, but understandably, tourists won’t want to come back if nothing is open.”

Station X tenant Odette Potenciano, who is one half of the duo behind Sunny Side Café, Little Wave Café, Supermagic Burgers, and Cocomama among others, appeals to tourists to travel and buy local. “Every Peso that you spend on small Filipino businesses goes a long way towards our recovery. Our second appeal is for tourists to be patient and kind. As everyone well knows, the pandemic has thrown our usual ways of working into chaos. So if your experience is not the same as it used to be, some understanding and compassion will be much appreciated.”

“We believe that it’s only a matter of time when the tourism industry, and the entire Boracay community will bounce back and come out even stronger,” says Dennis Lee. “This is how we stay positive — by continuing to practice our passion to connect and support the community in whatever way we can. This is what keeps us optimistic and fueled to keep going.”
