Melissa collaborates with Opening Ceremony, ‘Frozen’ and more

Melissa’s newest collection, Color Me, is an ode to color, through new designs that are both both nostalgic and brand new. On its 40th year, the brand reminds us of how it has built an empire out of color and imagination through the decades. The collection features primary brights, pale shades and pastels, as well as stark monochromes for the minimalists.

Celebrating 40 In (Various) Styles

With so many collaborations written into Melissa’s history, the brand is taking the launch of the Color Me collection as an opportunity to revisit some of their most iconic partnerships through the years. Joining forces with Brazilian fashion brand Salinas, Rider Sandals, Disney, and renowned designers Vivienne Westwood and Jason Wu, Color Me unveils a new chapter of with shoe silhouettes and accessories that style savants are bound to love.

Some of the most popular Melissa’s in the brand’s 40-year history includes a collaborative style from 1996/97 that was launched with Claudia Schiffer which has four featured styles: Melissa com Pochete, a reissue of their Mary Jane flat shoes and bumbag originally launched in 1990; Melissa Model, which features full plastic straps and a vibrant color palette;  Star In Love’s classic shaped, sneaker-like structure and choose from a super high platform in plain or rainbow colors; and Melissa Speed a futuristic sneaker style that became an instant hit in 2000s.

Melissa / Opening Ceremony

The Color Me collection also marks a new beginning for the brand. For the first time, the Brazilian footwear company will be joining forces with global fashion brand and retailer, Opening Ceremony, to rework some of Melissa’s most memorable silhouettes.

Breathing new life into archival pieces, the collaboration presents the launch of three modernized styles. The Hatch, fashioned with fisherman netting and trusty straps, is the ideal sandal for those eager to explore and travel on foot. The Ladii, a geometric low-heeled mule, expertly fuses form and function to create a pair that can elevate any ensemble. And then there’s Flipp, a classic double-strap slide. All three styles will be available in a spectrum of fresh, in-the-now shades.

A Frozen Holiday

This season, fashion comes in fun size with Melissa’s selection of Ultragirl + Frozen flats for the younger ones. Crafted out of 100% recycled PVC, the classic peep-toe silhouette gets an upgrade via glitter, snowflake prints and bow details, just ahead of the release of the long-awaited Frozen sequel.
