First day blues and tell-tale hearts on HBO’s ‘Big Little Lies’

Following the season two premiere of Big Little Lies on Monday, 10 June, HBO has released first look images of the second episode as well as additional images from the premiering episode.

The season premiere follows first-day-of-school events: Madeline is worried by Bonnie’s behavior and, later, is shocked when Abigail says she doesn’t want to go to college. Mary Louise, Celeste’s mother-in-law, offers her unvarnished assessment of Madeline’s character. Jane learns from her new coworker, Corey, that she’s known in town as one of the “Monterey Five.”

In the second episode, titled “Tell-Tale Hearts,” Renata faces an uncertain future when Gordon lands in legal trouble. Corey asks Jane out on a “practice” date. After a challenging therapy session with Dr. Reisman, Celeste opens up to Mary Louise about her relationship with Perry. Bonnie’s mom Elizabeth arrives. Ed confronts Madeline about her secrets. The second episode of the new season of the Emmy®-winning HBO Original series Big Little Lies premieres same time as the U.S. on Monday, 17 June at 9am, exclusively on HBO GO and HBO. The episode will premiere on the same day on HBO at 10pm. New episodes premiere every Monday.

Created by David E. Kelley, teleplays by David E. Kelley and story by Kelley and Liane Moriarty, and based on the novel by #1 New York Times bestselling author Liane Moriarty, the second season of Big Little Lies explores the malignancy of lies, the durability of friendships, the fragility of marriage and, of course, the vicious ferocity of sound parenting. The stellar cast includes Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, Zoë Kravitz and Meryl Streep.
