Stand-up comedian Mike Unson is scheduled to make you laugh this Friday night with his brand of observational comedy.
Mike — who takes inspiration from Seinfeld, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Amy Schumer and Ricky Gervais — is known for materials that are never obscene and always delivered with acerbic wit. If you’re looking for a different perspective on modern-day relationships and urban life in Manila, he’s your guy.
The Aliw Award-nominee for best stand-up comedian has opened for Rob Schneider and Rex Navarette. Mike also created Comedy Mayhem, a production company that showcases comedians, spoken word artists and musicians in live shows in Manila and out-of-town. For live acts, he has a special arrangement with Comedy Cartel, a group of stand-up comedians managed by E-circle entertainment and founded by Tim Tayag, Al Manalo, and Patrick Cruz. At times, he headlines shows for Comedy Cartel and trains the group’s new members.
His show, Mike Unson & Cohorts is happening on March 31, 9pm at U-View, Fully Booked BGC, and features fellow stand-up comedy artists Chris Bacula, Michelle Defensor, and Sheena Peña. Reserve tickets (P300) at any Ticketworld outlet (891-9999; visit ticketworld.com.ph). For other updates, follow @iammikeunson on Facebook.
